Anchusa crispa Viv. is a rare and endangered species endemic to Corsica and Sardinia. Restricted to the sandy littoral, it is threatened by numerous human impacts linked in particular to the tourist activities. Thus, the only two populations of the eastern coast of Corsica are now endangered.

During the celebrations for the 20 years of the activities of the Sardinian Germplasm Bank (BG-SAR), a local event dedicated to CARE-MEDIFLORA was realised, in which the HBK team illustrated the project to the local authorities and stakeholders.

Urtica rupestris Guss. is a perennial herb, 30-100 cm tall, woody at the base without urticant hairs. This narrow endemic species is linked to sciaphilous plant communities where it colonizes rocky outcrops within mesophilous holm oak woods. It is exclusively found on the carbonatic substrates of south-eastern Sicily. According to the IUCN criteria, it is classified as VU.

On 30 November 2017 the MARISTANIS project organised an international seminar entitled “The Ramsar Convention for wetlands conservation and management”.
The MARISTANIS project is an international cooperation project that aims at defining an integrated management model for the coastal wetlands in the Gulf of Oristano and Sinis Peninsula (Sardinia) as a model for other coastal regions in the Mediterranean.

Dianthus rupicola Biv. subsp. rupicola is a perennial plant growing on the sea-facing cliffs and rupestrian environments of southern Italy and Sicily. More common on the carbonatic substrates rather than on the volcanic ones, it behaves as a true chasmophyte chiefly linked to thermophilous stands. It is one of the few “policy-species” occurring in Sicily, being listed in Annex II of Directive 92/43/EEC (Habitat) and currently classified as LC in the Italian Red List (Rossi et al. 2013).
