To ensure the sustainability of in situ conservation operations carried out under the CARE-MEDIFLORA project, the Conservatoire Botanique National de Corse (CBNC) has just concluded partnership agreements with owners and / or site managers.

The partners involved are:

  • the "Conservatoire du littoral" (Cdl) (Conservatory of the Coast), whose mission is to acquire land parcels threatened by urbanization or degraded, to make sites restored, developed, attractive to visitors and at the same time respecting the natural balances. Cdl is the privileged partner of the OEC (Office de l'Environnement de la Corse) for the implementation of safeguarding measures for threatened plant species
  • the "County Council of Haute-Corse", one of whose missions is to manage the lands of the Cdl
  • the " Conservatoire d'Espaces Naturels " (CEN Corsica) (Conservatory of Natural Areas) and the "Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives Corte Center Corsica" (CPIE Center Corsica), organizations responsible for the management and monitoring of natural areas of which they are in charge, in particular in the framework of the implementation of measures recommended in the documents of objectives Natura 2000.

Within the framework of these agreements, CBNC undertakes to train the agents of the various structures in the methods of monitoring and management of species and habitats and to provide the plant material necessary for carrying out the in situ operations (seeds, seedlings, etc.). Managers pledge to carry out on site conservation operations, with the support of CBNC, and to monitor them for a minimum of 5 years.

These partnerships are essential to ensure the sustainability of operations in the medium and long term, which is one of the main objectives of the CARE-MEDIFLORA project.
