CARE-MEDIFLORA project boosts enrichment of GENMEDA

The "Network of Mediterranean Plant Conservation Centres" (GENMEDA) has expanded its members to 22, following the annual meeting of the network which took place within the 2nd Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week in Malta, 12 November 2018, under the support of CARE-MEDIFLORA.

The 2nd Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week successfully completed

The 2nd Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week took place place at the University of Malta, Valletta Campus, Malta from 12 to 16 November 2018, with the theme of “Conservation of Mediterranean Plant Diversity: Complementary Approaches and New Perspectives”. The main organizers of the event were the ‘CARE-MEDIFLORA’ project and the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation.

CARE-MEDIFLORA at the 9th HELECOS, Crete, 4-7 October 2018

The CARE-MEDIFLORA team in Crete participated in the 9th Panhellenic Ecology Conference (HELECOS) which took place in Heraklion, Crete, from 4-7 October 2018. The conference is organised every 2 years by the Hellenic Ecological Society. A poster presentation was made with the CARE-MEDIFLORA conservation actions that have been implemented in Crete.

CARE-MEDIFLORA at the “Cyprus Agricultural and Garden Exhibition”, 5-7 October 2018

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of Cyprus participated in the “Cyprus Agricultural and Garden Exhibition”. The exhibition was organized at the International Fair Grounds in Nicosia between the 5th and 7th of October 2018.

CARE-MEDIFLORA team meet in Sardinia, 24-27 September 2018

The project team met in Sardinia from 24 to 27 September 2018. This was the last project meeting and joint field trip, hosted by Hortus Botanicus Karalitanus, University of Cagliari, at the “Parco Donnortei” (Fonni), following those on the other project islands (Corsica, Cyprus, Sicily, Crete and Balearic Islands) where CARE-MEDIFLORA partners had the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge on the in situ and ex situ conservation actions taking place on each island.
