CARE-MEDIFLORA team meet in Sardinia, 24-27 September 2018

The project team met in Sardinia from 24 to 27 September 2018. This was the last project meeting and joint field trip, hosted by Hortus Botanicus Karalitanus, University of Cagliari, at the “Parco Donnortei” (Fonni), following those on the other project islands (Corsica, Cyprus, Sicily, Crete and Balearic Islands) where CARE-MEDIFLORA partners had the opportunity to share their experiences and knowledge on the in situ and ex situ conservation actions taking place on each island.

 

Day 1, Monday 24 September
Arrival of project team at Hortus Botanicus Karalitanus, Cagliari, and transfer to Parco Donnortei (Fonni municipality, Gennargentu Massif), where the Steering Committe meeting and joint field trip took place.

Day 2, Tuesday 25 September 
The day was intended for the Steering Committee meeting. Partners discussed the technical and financial project aspects and made final decisions and adjustments as the project is approaching its end.

Day 3, Wednesday 26 September
The team visited the in situ conservation actions carried out in the Gennargentu Massif, which included the translocations of Gentiana lutea subsp. lutea and Rhamnus persicifolia, the protection of the Rhamnus persicifolia patriarch and the fence erection for Centaurea magistrorum. On the same day, the local responsible of the Fo.Re.S.T.A.S nursery of Talana presented the conservation activities carried out by the Agency nurseries in Sardinia.

Day 4, Thursday 27 September
The team visited tthe Sarcidano region, where they saw the translocation and the management action (fence erection) for Senecio morisii.
