Project partner in Corsica, the Conservatoire Botanique National de Corse (CBNC), has carried out an ex situ conservation operation concerning Brassica insularis Moris..

Brassica insularis is a rare and protected species with a restricted distribution. It is present in Corsica, Sardinia, Pantelleria Island and very locally in the North-East end of North Africa.

It grows in cracks of limestone cliffs, on earthy plateaux of shale rock bars or in serpentine scree. The rock wall is often the last refuge for threatened and rare plant species that do not support competition between plants. The vegetation of this type of environment is recovering badly and very slowly.

To carry out the harvesting of seeds and the monitoring of the populations, the CBNC had to call on the climbing guides of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica.

The operation took place on June 16, 2017 in the municipalities of Conca, Ghisoni and Poggio d'Oletta. 8500 seeds were collected.
